This planet still holds many mysteries, some that reach back to the dark, distant past and survive in the present as legends and folklore. Cultures around the world tell of beings that live inside the earth. Are they real or myth? Zephanaiah believes he actually encountered these beings on the island of Samoa, where he lives. This is Zephanaiah’s story.
I am a firm believer that the Pacific holds the keys to many of the earth’s still unsolved mysteries, ranging from the spiritual to the scientific. The Pacific should be explored. Many times I have read about beings from the “inner earth” or “hollow earth.” What if I were to tell you that an entrance into the hollow earth can be found right here on the various islands of Samoa?
Growing up here, we are told stories of two different types of beings, aitu and sauai. The aitu, or spiritual beings, are not typical ghosts. Some have been omens for good or bad. Some are sent to harm people, like a poltergeist would. Some have even been known to kill people who try to tamper with Mother Nature. They range in form from floating beings to tall shadow people.
The sauai, or ghoul/monster, were exactly those — monsters. These were things that mere words could not explain. They either flew, walked through walls, were a couple of stories tall (giants) or even dwarfs. The sauai had one purpose: to feed and cause havoc.
On Savai’i, the biggest Island of the Samoa Island Chain, our ancestors talked of the very gate or doorway to Hell being located on one of its coasts. The doorway was called Pulotu. These are where the restless souls of our ancestors and all the ancestors of Polynesia seek rest and refuge.
I was about 13 or 14 when my cousins and I stumbled into a cave many of us had only heard of off the cliff of a village called Pagai. Our grandparents always warned us about the cave and not to venture in to it. Only those who are from within are allowed to go in. If you are not one of them, you will not live to make it back out, we were told.
My cousins and I were night fishing when we came across this cave. Inside the cave was a strange neon blueish-green glow, like street racing lights. There was also this strange essence and scent, like someone was cooking and was caught by surprise. We were so excited. “Shall we go in?” my cousin asked.
His twin brother said, “No! Are you nuts? We don’t know what could be in there.”
I agreed with him. We were all the same age and if someone or something had attacked us, we were too young to fight off our attacker. So we all continued on the path to the reef.
As we got about 30 or 40 feet away, we could see a bluish-green figure leap out of the cave and into the water. This being had fins for feet and webbed hands. Its head was humanoid-like. We couldn’t make out a face because of the distance, but its eyes we would never forget. They were glowing bluish-green light. As it entered the water, we could follow how deep, how fast and where it was going. It traveled like a very big fish. It was gone just as soon as it hit the water.
We were all shocked by the speed it had under the water. It went from five or six feet deep water to 50 to 80 feet deep water in seconds. We could no longer see the lights from its eyes, so we headed back home.
That was crazy! What was that? We all talked about what we had seen. We were shocked and excited. Little did we know we were also being followed.
Our gas lantern was beginning to run out of gas and we were 30 yards from home. My cousin said, “Who keeps shining the flash light behind us?”
His twin and I were about to answer him when we noticed about 15 feet away from us in the water, the lights returned and were following us. We all stopped to see what it would do. It stopped. We moved, it moved. We all decided to run on the count of three. 1… 2… 3 — and we all darted and didn’t look back. All we could remember was the sound of something leaping out of the water and into an old foxhole from WWII, and a screech that sounded like a bat, except 100 times louder.
Out of breath, we all ran to our grandparents’ house. We were all gasping for air when our grandmother asked us what had happened. When we had told her what we had seen and where we had been, she was enraged. Then she calmed down and had a sense of concern as she spoke.
“Sons, that is what we were talking about,” she said. “You see, if you are not one of them, you might not make it alive. They have been underground for so long. They come out at night to hunt for food and return before the day breaks. They live deep in the cave you saw. They have a little city where they dwell. They do not take kindly to humans.
“When your grandfather and I were young, a group of us followed one of them into the cave. It looked like a shark had taken a bite out of it. Its blood was blue. It spoke a language none of us understood, let alone ever heard before. Its voice sounded like a bat in flight. We followed the blood trail about 200 to 300 yards when we came to a city. It was beautiful. They were everywhere. As soon as they could smell us, they made the cave fill with ocean water. We hurried out of there and none of us have been there since. Sons, do not go there again. Do you understand?”
“Yes, grandma,” we agreed.
Whenever we go into the mountains to get bananas or firewood, once in a while we would come across a campsite with seashells and bones. We would look at each other and say, “They were here.”

|20 Questions with José Escamilla: Rods|
In 1994, José and Karen Escamilla accidentally caught on tape strange flying rods with undulating appendages. They continue their quest to find out what they are.
José Escamilla, explorer and filmmaker, discovered strange flying rods while investigating UFOs with his wife Karen in New Mexico in 1994. A satisfactory explanation for these enigmatic things is still being sought. Are they alive? Are they dangerous? Where do they come from and where do they go? In answers to this month’s 20 Questions, José talks about this bizarre phenomenon.
1. How, when and where did you first discover the rods?
J.E.: On March 5, 1994, I videotaped UFOs that appeared in broad daylight over Midway, New Mexico – a small community nine miles southeast of Roswell. Then on March 19,1998, I again videotaped the area, making a documentation of where the UFOs had appeared on March 5. While reviewing the March 19 tape, I saw something that I had never seen before: A streak passes by the camera from across the road and right above where I was standing. As I saw this through the viewfinder, my first impression was that these were insects or birds. Then when I reviewed the footage frame by frame, I realized that they were not insects or birds… but something else. Upon seeing the objects on video, Karen, my wife, coined them “rods” because they resemble microorganisms she has seen under a microscope.
2. Do they only show up in photos and video, or can they be seen with the naked eye?
J.E.: They can be seen with the naked eye. If you have ever seen something zip by in your eye peripheral – and most all of us immediately assume it was a close flyby of an insect or bird – but then you turn and look and there are no birds or insects anywhere in sight, then you have witnessed a rod with the naked eye. People have come up to me at lectures after seeing the footage of what these things look like, and they tell me that they too have seen them with the naked eye. They are extremely fast, but they can be seen.
3. What do you think they are? Are they alive?
J.E.: All the footage, from the early shots to the latest “smoking-gun evidence” from the cave in Mexico, seem to reflect that these objects may be living organisms. In fact, we now have discovered how they may fly! I have also just acquired footage of an actual cigar-type UFO that is traveling from left to right and slow across the sky over Rhode Island, and two rods zip through – all in the same scene! This is groundbreaking footage because lots of people who have been videotaping rods have termed them as alien craft, which we feel they are not. The cigar-shaped object in this particular footage resembles in great detail the object videotaped by Tim Edwards and Tom King, and it certainly moves much slower than the two rods. We are excited about this new evidence.
4. How do you know they’re not just lens flares or some other optical anomaly?
J.E.: Early on in the investigation, I knew we would have to dispel the claims that skeptics would make in trying to discredit what we were documenting, so we did a variety of tests, including shooting toward the sun where lens flares would appear across the lens POV. And guess what? We captured rods zipping past as they always do, and the lens flares remain stationary in the scene.
5. There are many skeptics, of course, who have denounced both your methods and your findings. Can they be convinced?
J.E.: Most people don’t know that I am a professional film and video editor with extensive credits and experience. And in doing these tests, I came up with a protocol that basically washes away the insect-bird theories skeptics also brought out. With this protocol, which I call “sky fishing,” there is no way that anyone can misidentify all that is videotaped. Skeptics like Joe Nickel of Skeptical Inquirer don’t claim insects anymore because of the obvious, but they have alluded to a hoax. Kal Korff and Bob Shell, however, continue to call rods mis-filmed insects. This is simply because they don’t know any better. Needless to say, the new Smoking-Gun Evidence video shows it all.
6. How big do you estimate them to be?
J.E.: We can only estimate at this time, but anywhere from a few inches to a hundred or more feet in length. There is a still taken over Maryland (see State by State on our Web site) where a rod’s torso is covered by a cloud while part of the tail and head can be seen. Judging the height of the clouds at a minimum of 1,500 to 2,000 feet, this rod must be longer than a hundred feet, and it was traveling at a high velocity.
7. How fast do you calculate they are moving?
J.E.: One rod in Norway ascended upward toward where a cameraman was videotaping base jumpers down below. He is literally standing at the edge of a cliff 3,000 feet above the ocean. Down below you can see the beach and coastline, some clouds, and a base jumper who has leaped off the cliffs. This rod emerges from the left side of the screen, and it appears small. As it moves closer to where the cameraman is, it gets larger before going off upper right screen. The rod travels about 3,000 feet in 10 frames of video. At 30 frames per each second of video, this means it travels that distance in one-third of a second. That is very fast. So they may travel from 150 to perhaps 1,000 miles per hour. We have yet to get an accurate speed.
8. This seems like a fairly recent phenomenon. Why do you think they have never been seen or detected before?
J.E.: Actually, they have been seen and detected before. In the late 1950s, Trevor James Constable photographed rods using infrared film. He called them “critters.” Ivan T. Sanderson, a biologist, also photographed them. A man named Tom Jonestroem videotaped rods in Sweden in 1989 and 1990. He captured rods while filming tank footage for the Swedish defense department. They all scoffed at him, claiming they were mis-filmed insects. However, a Hollywood crew videotaped the identical type of rod as Tom’s over North Hollywood while shooting The World’s Scariest Police Shootouts. This not only vindicates Tom, but also proves the rods were seen and recorded by accident before we discovered them on our videos.
9. Those are still recent sightings. Any record of anything older?
J.E.: In 1896, for two days straight, people over Crawfordsville, Indiana saw a large, 30-foot thing in the sky they called a “Sky Monster” that moved “like a serpent swimming through the air.” This was probably a rod. Other case histories included the dragons in caves and skies over London, the “ghost rockets” over Norway and Sweden, and many other historical “myths” that could have been rods.
10. If they are living creatures, why do you think they cannot be seen at rest? Or can they?
J.E.: We have been asked about why there are no carcasses. If rods only exist in the skies, perhaps they are one-celled animals that have the lighter-than-air weight required for existing in the atmosphere. If we look at the sky as a less-dense “ocean,” then when they die perhaps they float “up” to the less-dense areas of the atmosphere. Perhaps rods eat the dead rods for the precious gases they must use for their buoyancy. We just don’t know until we can catch one or find a carcass. Who knows, maybe there is a specimen somewhere that has been passed off as part of a squid or cuttlefish or something. Scientists don’t know they exist… yet.
11. Where do you think they are flying to?
J.E.: We don’t know where they come from or where they go, but at the cave in Mexico we have hundreds of rods on video, suggesting this might be a habitat where we can go and study them using more technical, scientific methods over a more controlled environment. Mark Lichtle, who videotaped hundreds of rods “by accident,” says that as far as finding a carcass, this might explain why one hasn’t been found: In the cave, there are literally thousands of swallows that live there. He said you would expect to find hundreds of dead swallows at the bottom of the cave. He has only found one dead swallow’s carcass in all the times he’s been there. So if that’s any indication, maybe that’s why rods’ carcasses can’t be found even at the cave. We won’t know until we get to the cave during the expedition we are planning in November this year . We want to find a specimen. This would be the most important discovery in the world of science. We can only hope we’ll be lucky.
12. Are there more than one kind of rod? How many different kinds have you detected?
J.E.: The different types we have recorded are: the “centipede” types, which have the appendages across the torso; “white rods,” which have no appendages, but appear to have a ribbon-like appearance; and “spears,” which are super-thin and very fast with no appendages at all. Color varieties are yellow, white, reddish brown, and dark brown.
13. Have rods be recorded around the country?
J.E.: They have now been seen in more than 28 states across the U.S. (see State by State) and in Canada, Norway, Sweden, and Mexico.
14. What kinds of reports have you received from these areas?
J.E.: In the state-by-state section of our Web site, you will see reported sightings, and there are some areas where we have not received the video yet.
15. Has there ever been an attempt to catch one?
J.E.: Not yet, but we will try during the expedition. However, if they are a species, they could be classified as an endangered species, so by catching one I want it to be perhaps a carcass as opposed to trying to trap one alive. I would hate to find out that we might have pissed one off as we don’t know their true nature.
16. Do you think they might be dangerous?
J.E.: They appear to be friendly. During one photo shoot, there was one rod that comes close to colliding with a base jumper in the cave, and at the last minute it makes an abrupt maneuver to avoid a collision. I would hate to think what one of these might do if it were threatened.
17. Are they easier to catch with a still camera or a video camera?
J.E.: Still cameras capture them, but video catches them more often. Remember that videotape can be re-recorded on, while still photographic cameras take stills one at a time. It would take an enormous amount of film and cost in order to capture them on still cameras. However, we intend to use high-speed 16mm film cameras at the cave where they appear to exist in more frequency.
18. What kind of research are you currently doing on the rods?
J.E.: First of all, we are always encouraging people to use our protocol for videotaping rods, and to contact us if they might have recorded one or more in their areas. We need more evidence of their existence in other locations so that we may get a better mapping of rod activity across the U.S. and around the world. We just made the breakthrough on how these things may fly with a crude rod model I built and animated using the undulatory wave membrane theory brought up by Jim Peters. We want to put the rods phenomena in the public eye as a real thing, as opposed to just another UFO sighting that can be easily dismissed.
19. But you don’t put them in the same category as UFOs the way most people think of them, do you?
J.E.: Although rods are unidentified flying objects until we identify them as anything else – including a species – we feel that we now have more than coincidental evidence of their existence. Perhaps after the expedition they will be taken more seriously. Plus, once people are unafraid to go on record for seeing rods in the skies, they will begin to see the “other things” that are appearing in the skies. Rods will bring down the barriers caused by fear of admitting we see things. We’ll just have to continue making a strong case pertaining to the rods phenomena. As it is, we now have smoking-gun evidence as to their existence. The next level is to find out what they are or aren’t, where they go and come from, and then it’s up to science to determine what to do next.
20. How can other people try to detect the rods? If they do, how should they report the sighting?
J.E.: I urge people to see the “sky fishing” section on our Web site. I can be e-mailed about their videos, and I will respond to anyone who feels they might have captured rod activity in their area. On our Web site you will find the whole story, stills from the video, and a complete manual on how to videotape rods.
Rods are highly controversial anomalies that occasionally are captured in photos and video. While some researchers, such as José Escamilla, maintain that they are some unknown form of life, others dismiss them as the path and motion of insects passing in front of a camera with an open shutter.

Is there a connection among chupacabras and the various small, vicious, flying monsters that have terrorized unsuspecting people around the globe for decades? Here’s what they look like and what they’ve been up to.
THE FULL MOON rose above the mountain in the cloudless night, shining like a pale yellow lantern into the farmer’s bedroom. But that is not what awoke him. It was the chickens. Their panicked cries had awoken him before, and it meant they were under attack. Wild dogs had gotten into the coop, the farmer thought, or perhaps a wolf. He leapt from bed, grabbed his shotgun from the bedroom corner and hurried outside. He checked the gun for cartridges as he jogged barefoot past the long, soft shadows cast by the moonlight toward the chicken coop. The predator will die tonight, he thought, as he pushed open the small door to the coop. He burst in and took aim. But he did not shoot. Instead, he froze, his senses overwhelmed by the sight before him. Several chickens lay dead in the dirt around the clawed feet of a creature the farmer had never seen before. This was no dog, no wolf. It stood on two feet at about the height of a small child. It had dark, scaly skin and a ridge of porcupine-like spines running across its head and down its back. In its short arms ending in sharp claw-like hands, the creature held a chicken to its mouth. It was not eating its prey, but seemed to be sucking the life from it. It turned to face the farmer, its red eyes blazing, and dropped the chicken to the ground. It hissed, baring its large blood-stained fangs. Then it screeched – an unearthly, terrifying noise that drove the farmer backward into the doorway. The creature, with its front claws dangling, hopped like some mutant kangaroo toward the farmer. Dumbstruck, he stumbled backward out of the coop as the creature hopped past him with another deafening shriek. The farmer was knocked to the ground, and he could feel rough, scaly skin of the creature as it passed, and felt the warm, sickening smell of its putrid breath on his face. The creature sprung onto the roof of the coop, spread short, dark, bat-like wings, and with two bounding hops flew away into the darkness. It was only then that the farmer remembered he had his shotgun. He brought it to bear, but it was too late. The creature from hell had disappeared with one last shriek that echoed off the distant mountains.
Although this might sound like some horror story fantasy, it is actually based on the eyewitness accounts and experiences of those who have encountered the enigmatic creature known as el chupacabras – “the goatsucker.”
The description, however, also seems to fit a number of other strange creatures that have been seen over the decades – creatures people have identified as gargoyles, the Jersey Devil and the Monkey Man. It’s worth examining the similarities and considering whether these all might be sightings of the same mysterious creature.
The now-famous chupacabras first came on the scene, as far as we know, in the summer of 1975 when several farm animals in Puerto Rico were found dead. The bodies had strange puncture-like marks on their necks. The sightings intensified in the 1990s as the chupacabras’ appetite seemed to grow. In some cases, farmers reported that literally hundreds of their animals were inexplicably slaughtered. Invariably, the animals were not eaten by any predator, but were horribly mutilated or drained of blood – hence the name, “goatsucker.” In 1991, a male dog was found dead, with nothing inside. “It was as if all had been sucked out through the eyes,” the report said. “It had empty eye sockets and all the internal organs had disappeared.”
For a while, the carnage seemed to be confined to the island of Puerto Rico, but toward the end of the 1990s and into the 2000s, sightings began to be reported on other Caribbean islands, in Mexico, Central America, Chile and even the southern U.S. in Florida, Arizona and Texas. In April-June in Chile of 2002, in fact, it was reported that authorities had even captured the chupacabras, which may have been taken away by people representing the U.S. government.
The descriptions of the creature over this time has remained fairly consistent:
The chupacabras phenomenon continues up to this day, with the recent reports of attacks continuing to come out of South American countries, including Chile and Argentina. In many of these cases, chupacabras – although not seen – was blamed for the deaths of chickens and other farm animals that were mutilated and drained of blood.
HOLLYWOOD CREATES MANY spooky films that can be great fun to watch, but there’s nothing fun about these scariest hauntings. Unexplained things… unspeakable things… have terrorized homes that were once as quiet and normal as yours or mine. From some unfathomable place, dark and sinister forces have crept into our reality with a mission of disturbance, fright and even violence. Here are some of the creepiest true accounts of hauntings ever recorded.
THE PROCTOR HAUNTING
Have you ever spent the night in a house reputed to be haunted? This story could make you reconsider.
It was the autumn of 1834 when the Proctors, a Quaker family, began to notice disturbances in their house near Tyneside in northern England. Every member of the family complained of hearing footsteps and whistling that could not be accounted for. The sound of a clock being wound could not be explained. Over a six-year period, the intensity of the haunting increased. The stomping of angry footsteps echoed throughout the house, contrasted by faint whisperings. And then there were the apparitions. The white figure of a strange woman was seen in a window by a neighbor, and then seen in other rooms of the house by the Proctors. A disembodied white face appeared over a stair railing, seeming to watch the family.
The Proctor’s plight was known throughout the area, and then, as now, there were skeptics who were certain they could explain it all away. On July 3, 1840, Edward Drury, a local doctor, volunteered to spend a night in the house with his colleague, T. Hudson, while the Proctors were away. Dr. Drury armed himself with pistols and waited on the third floor landing, unafraid of what he was sure were mundane house noises. Less than an hour into his vigil, Drury began to hear soft footfalls, then a knocking and an echoing cough. Hudson had fallen asleep. But at about 1 a.m., Dr. Drury watched in horror as a closet door slowly swung open out of which floated toward him the ghostly lady in white. Drury screamed and charged the phantom, succeeding only in tripping over his friend Hudson. What next happened the doctor could not recall. “I have since learned,” he later wrote, “that I was carried downstairs in an agony of fear and terror.”
Some years later the Proctors could stand no more of the unexplained manifestations and vacated the house in 1847. The building was later torn down.
THE FREEBORN HAUNTING
If a previous owner has died in the house in which you now reside, you might want to think twice before you redecorate.
After Mrs. Meg Lyons died suddenly in her Bakersfield, California house, it had remained untouched when Mrs. Frances Freeborn moved in during the month of November, 1981. Every piece of Mrs. Lyons’ furniture was just as she left it. Her clothes still filled the closets and dressers. Eager to make the house her own, Mrs. Freeborn set about cleaning out the house and refurbishing it to her liking. And that’s when the trouble started.
The first unsettling mystery was a loud thumping noise coming from the kitchen area, which Freeborn at first dismissed as noisy plumbing. But then there was other strangeness. Freeborn habitually closed all doors and cabinets before retiring to bed, only to find them wide open in the morning. Lights would be switched on by unseen hands while Freeborn was out of the house. She tried to take these curious occurrences in stride, but was convinced a paranormal force was at play when she tried to hang a particular picture – a triptych (three photos in one frame) of pre-Civil War women.
The morning after hanging it, Freeborn was puzzled to find it on the floor, but neatly propped against the wall. Figuring it had merely fallen (and luckily not broken), she re-hung it. In fact, five times she tried to hang the picture, and each time it was taken down and set against the wall. A week or so later, following an impulse, she hung the picture in a spare bedroom much lower on the wall and too close to the light switch than she actually preferred. But this time the picture stayed put. Why? When Luke Cowley, the dead Mrs. Lyon’s son-in-law, visited the house, he remarked that Mrs. Lyon had hung a very similar picture in that very spot.
In 1982, as Mrs. Freeborn was preparing to redecorate the master bedroom, the poltergeist activity increased. Throughout the day that she shopped for paint and wallpaper, she was unnerved by the sensation of being watched. That night, crashing noises and loud banging in remote areas of the house kept Freeborn from sleeping. She arose from her bed at about 2 a.m. and walked to the bathroom. She ran some water at the sink to wash her hands. Suddenly, the bathroom window flew open. She closed it, returned to her bed and sat, frightened. Again the bathroom window opened and in the same instant the bedroom window crashed shut. The folding doors of one closet tore open as another closet door slammed closed. Her dog barked frantically at the terrifying spectacle.
Scared out of her wits, Freeborn’s solitary thought was to get out of that house. She picked up her dog and fled the bedroom into the hallway and ran smack into some unseen force. “There was a zone of pressure,” she later related, “a mass out in the hall, as if something ominous and ugly was concentrated there. I realized I had to get out of the house or I would die.”
Three distinct forces were in that hallway, she insisted – one to each side of her and one blocking her way out. Gathering all her courage, she shouted, “Get out of my way!” and forced her way past the dark presences. Somehow she sensed that the two entities at her sides her “surprised” that she was able to do this, and she felt that the entity in front of her was knocked back. She ran out the back door and sped away in her car… still wearing her nightgown.
THE OLD WOMAN HAUNTING
Some teenagers think it’s fun or cool to go traipsing around disrespectfully in cemeteries on Halloween. If you’ve considered such an outing, consider too that you might be disturbing those who rest there… and something might even follow you home.
A 17-year-old British girl made that mistake. It wasn’t Halloween, but the Spring of 1978 when a girl, identified only as Miss A by the Society of Psychical Research, and several of her friends decided to make their way through a local graveyard, trampling graves as they laughed and joked. Only Miss A and her family was to pay the price for that prank, however. Several nights later, Miss A awoke to see the apparition of an old woman sitting in a chair near her bed. The spirit was not transparent, and Miss A did not sense any harm from it. In the morning, she wrote off the experience as a weird dream.
But it wasn’t. For several weeks following, Miss A repeatedly saw the ghost of the old woman – sometimes in broad daylight. It would follow Miss A from room to room, hovering less than a foot above the floor. At times it watched Miss A’s every move, following her, and would freeze in place whenever she turned to confront it. And soon the encounters became more threatening.
While making tea one day, she felt an unseen force grab the tea kettle – filled with boiling water – and twist it in her hands. Miss A felt that the entity was trying to scald her. Finally, Miss A told her mother of these bizarre experiences. Mrs. A was skeptical at first – until she too saw the old woman drift across the downstairs hall and disappear into a room. The entity continued to make its presence felt. On one occasion it wrenched the vacuum cleaner from Mrs. A’s hands. It would sometimes push or pull against doors that family members were trying to open or close. Miss A’s father – the most diehard skeptic of the group – was even forced to believe when loud rapping noises awakened the entire household, and later when he could not explain water incessantly dripping from the kitchen ceiling. A plumber could find no leak.
The poltergeist activity escalated. Loud banging, unexplained snoring sounds, objects moved about. Then, it seemed, the entity attempted to make its identity known. Miss A was sitting with her father one day when she suddenly fell into a trance. She began to speak of another life – as the daughter of a French doctor in the 1800s. After this incident, Miss A’s behavior changed noticeably and she appeared to be endowed with unexplained psychic powers: she could bend the tines of a fork just by brushing them with her fingers. Doctors and other investigators could find no rational explanation for what was happening to the A family. But they could endure no more. Miss A and her family moved out of their home of 11 years.
But the ghost was to give Miss A one last life-threatening scare. Out of a nagging curiosity, Miss A returned to the empty house one day. She found the back door broken and open. She went in. She picked up the telephone to see if it was working. Suddenly, something grabbed her by the throat. Icy, unseen fingers had grabbed Miss A by the neck and were choking her. Terrified, she managed to pull herself away and ran out the front door. Needless to say, she never returned.
THE MACKIE HAUNTING
By now it must be clear to you that not all hauntings are benign. They can sometimes – although rarely – be far more physical and threatening than a fleeting shadow drawn by Casper the Friendly Ghost.
What took place at the Mackie farmhouse beginning in February, 1695, for example, is one of the most active and violent poltergeist cases on record. I was also well documented, having been witnessed and experienced by more than a dozen upstanding members of this Scottish community. Andrew Mackie, described by neighbors as “honest, civil and harmless,” lived in the modest farmhouse with his wife and children. The property had been known to be haunted, but the Mackies experienced nothing out of the ordinary there… until that February.
The attack on the Mackies began with an assault of stones and other objects, thrown by some invisible force. Several family members were struck and injured by the missiles. The family sought the counsel of Alexander Telfair, the parish minister, who upon arrival experienced first-hand the bewildering phenomena. Whatever the entity was, it “molested me mightily,” Telfair said, “threw stones and divers other things at me, and beat me several times on the Shoulders and Sides with a great Staff, so that those who were present heard the noise of the Blows.”
The hateful presence was unrelenting. The Mackies testified that it attacked their children one night in their beds, delivering forceful spankings. More than once “it would drag People about their House by their Clothes,” an investigation described. A blacksmith narrowly escaped death when a trough and plowshare were hurled at him. Small buildings on the property spontaneously burst into flames and burned to cinders. During a family prayer meeting, chunks of flaming peat pelted them. A human shape, seemingly made out of cloth, appeared, groaning, “Hush… hush.”
This being the late 17th century, the Mackies were quick to attribute the phenomena to demons. On April 9, Andrew Mackie enlisted no less than five ministers to exorcize the farmhouse of the demonic spirits. But the ministers were to have their hands full throughout the ritual. Stones hailed down on them. A few of the minister, including Telfair, claimed that something had grabbed them by the legs or feet and lifted them into the air. The clergymen were not willing to yield victory to the entity, however, continuing their exorcism efforts for more than two weeks. Then on Friday, April 26, a voice from the invisible specter declared to them, “Thou shalt be troubled ’till Tuesday.”
When that day arrived, the witnesses watched in astonishment as a dark, cloud-like shape formed in the corner of the Mackies’ barn. As they stared, the cloud grew larger and blacker until it nearly filled the entire building. Blobs of mud flew out of the cloud into the faces of the witnesses. Some were gripped by some vice-like force. And then… it vanished, just as it promised it would.
My husband, and our two-year-old son and I went to a used bookstore about two hours from our house in Tucson, Arizona this last Saturday (04/23/2011.) I followed my son as we walked back into the children’s area.
He rounded the corner to the aisle with the books. I saw a girl stand, not moving, a little ways down the aisle staring in our direction. Then my husband walked up to us. As he came closer, she did as well, following behind him.
My son ran off toward a table and my husband followed. The girl walked up and got right next to me within inches, almost touching. I started to feel extremely uneasy and moved away to where my husband and son stood at the table. They were both looking down at a Mickey Mouse doll which I tried to talk to my son about.
As I was looking down, I saw movement coming up behind me out of the corner of my eye. It was the girl. I noticed her clothing looked from about the 1960s and she looked very out of place. She was also overdressed with multiple coats on in a normal temperature environment.
She walked in a circling pattern, with her head down in a predatory way, the way a panther stalks its prey. As I stared at her while, she walked slowly. I distinctly remember she did not make a sound when she moved. Which now I am thinking was odd, because she had a lot of clothing on and a bag with her.
Her eyes were all black, no whites of her eyes, no pupils. She stared coldly, devoid of emotion, and you could feel the evil radiating off of her. I remember as I made eye contact with her, I had the very distinct feeling that she was not human. I had a feeling that she was something evil in a human shell.
I felt the most amount of terror and most threatened I have ever felt. I also felt like I was the food at the bottom of the food chain and I was her next meal. I definitely had a fight-or-flight response after I was able to pull my eyes away from hers. I remember thinking I had to get away and I had to protect my family.
I tugged on my husband’s shirt and grabbed my son and started to pull them away. My husband asked why; I said we need to just go. I remember thinking it was very important that she didn’t know we were leaving because we were afraid of her. We went to the other side of the store (if we were smart we would have left immediately).
My husband walked off to electronics and my son and I stood in front of a bookshelf full of board games. There was an aisle right behind us for magazines. Then I heard a man that was leaning down toward my son say in a very low tone, “I see you… she can’t hear you, but I can.”
I didn’t turn around; I was too scared. I grabbed my son and dashed away. I now believe he was one of the black-eyed people too and they were there together. I went to the car with my son and just felt this heaviness of evil that almost felt like it had stuck to me until I went to bed that night.
Yes, it was my mistake…I had not posted the pic of those markings. Here it is. My apology.
A robot has taken photos of a hidden secret chamber inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, which was supposedly built by the fourth dynasty Egyptian pharaoh Khufu. It’s been the first time anyone accessed the secret chamber in 4500 years.
The archeologists have reached a second blocking stone, finding mysterious markings on the floor. They don’t know what they are yet.
The chamber is located at the end of a 63-meter-long tight passage way going up from the Queen’s chamber, which is at the center of the bottom of the gigantic 146-meter-tall pyramid, made out of 2.3 million blocks of limestone and granite.
Located south of the top of the King’s chamber, the secret chamber shows mysterious markings, as well as metal pins embedded in the first blocking stone. Apparently, there’s a second blocking stone behind that one. No other artifacts have been found yet, and archeologists still don’t know what the red stone markings mean. They certainly don’t look like your usual hieroglyphics to me.
What really worries me is this whole hi-tech archeology business. Robot archeologists, space archeologists… what are the mummies going to do? Who the hell are they supposed to curse now? They must be getting very confused at this stage of the proceedings. [New Scientist]
If Columbus was not the first to discover our land we now know it to be…then why do certain powers try and distort the truth of real history? Read this article below. Pretty interesting.
A controversial Minnesota artifact is making a name for itself across the country in its next biggest publicity move.
The Kensington Runestone, which was unearthed in Minnesota but has been long disputed as a hoax, will now be featured on 2,300 20-foot moving trucks across the country.
U-Haul unveiled the image Saturday morning at the Alexandria museum that houses the stone during the city’s “Awake the Lakes” celebration. About 1,000 people celebrated the announcement at the Runestone Museum with T-shirts and a truck depicting the stone behind a large Vikings ship — the fourth image representing Minnesota on the company’s trucks.
“It’s just the wonderful marketing of 2,300 billboards across the country,” museum volunteer Carol Meyer said. “As a nonprofit, we can’t buy that kind of advertising.”
The stone received national publicity in 2009 when a History Channel documentary aired. That helped pique interest in the stone, Meyer said, drawing 10,000 visitors to the museum last year.
The stone was discovered in 1898 in a farm field in Kensington, Minn., near Alexandria. It describes the massacre of 10 members of a Swedish and Norwegian exploration party in central Minnesota in the year 1362. Experts have long disputed the authenticity of the stone, which would suggest that Nordic explorers were in America in 1362, before Columbus.
The moving truck company isn’t taking a stance on whether the stone is a hoax or not, but rather saying in a statement that “honoring Minnesota will challenge everyone to learn more about Viking adventures, and decide for themselves whether or not the proof is etched in stone.”
The image is part of U-Haul’s “Venture Across America” campaign, which highlights facts about North America through nearly 200 images on its trucks. Of the four images representing Minnesota, the Kensington Runestone is the only image part of this campaign. (The other images are more general.)
Company spokeswoman Joanne Fried said the stone was selected by a group of researchers to represent the state for its intriguing story.
Meyer said U-Haul contacted the museum last fall with interest in displaying the stone on its trucks. Now she said she’s hopeful the moving truck publicity will help draw more visitors to the museum this year.
“Running a museum, we’re in the entertainment business,” she said. “We want people to come see it.”
Just what is this runestone? Here’s more info on what it is:
The Kensington Runestone is a 200-pound slab of greywacke covered in runes on its face and side which, if genuine, would suggest that Scandinavian explorers reached the middle of North America in the 14th century. It was found in 1898 in the largely rural township of Solem, Douglas County, Minnesota, and named after the nearest settlement, Kensington. Almost all Runologists and experts in Scandinavian linguistics consider the runestone to be a hoax. The runestone has been analyzed and dismissed repeatedly without local effect. The community of Kensington is solidly behind the runestone, which has transcended its original cultural purposes and has “taken on a life of its own”.
Although the runestone’s history is being used for publicity and advertising reasons, there’s far more to this than one knows. In this book titled, The Kensington Rune Stone: Compelling New Evidence, more knowledge is shed on this mystery and brings us one step closer in knowing our real hidden history that many are NOT willing to talk about!
Since the early days of modern UFO sightings, many investigators have been visited by strange men (and sometimes women) who warn of impending doom in regards to certain UFO cases. Some feel the MIB might well be working for the economic industrial complex or at least are in agreement to squelch any evidence that would bring great advancement to our planet. It could well be that the MIBs are cronies of the darkest elements of our society who would like to keep enlightenment away from earth’s general populace.
However you want to look at it, the Men-In-Black (MIB), are not fairy tales or the product of deranged minds. They are very real and obviously very powerful. Here are a couple of examples from Tim Beckley’s new book “Curse of the Men-In-Black” now available at the Conspiracy Journal Bookshop, Amazon.com, and other book sellers.
The state of Arizona has always been a hotbed (pardon the expression) of UFO activity. Maybe it has something to do with Wendelle Stevens living there (only kidding Wendelle), but nevertheless I can remember a handful of MIB reports being handed to me.
Take for example the case of a Tucson newsboy, Warren Weisman who was delivering the Daily Star on Feb 19, 1979 at around 6 AM when he saw an odd looking object crash into a parked car at the side of the road.
According to a newspaper account this is his story:
“I was on Winstel Blvd when I saw this ‘falling star’ come from the sky. It was traveling at great speed and landed about a block away. It smashed the back of a white Volkswagen, throwing off its right rear wheel, rolled off the car and knocked over a mailbox on a post nearby.”
The ten year old fifth grader said the object was about the size of a microwave oven, was black, shiny, and had lots of “lava-like” holes all around it. Weisman said the object was smoking when he walked over to it.
As he bent over to examine his unusual find a brown pulled up and says the witness, “A skinny man in a brown suit and white shirt got out of the car. He was an FBI-type. He told me, “Why don’t you go ahead and deliver the rest of the papers?”
As he stood talking to the man, what Warren thinks was a Pima County Sheriff’s car pulled up along side the brown car. “I was afraid that the man in the brown suit was going to pull a gun,” Warren said. He quickly departed from home to tell his mother about what had happened.
Twenty minutes later, he returned to the scene of the “crash” with his mother.
“All we found was the tire and the broken mailbox.” The smashed car and the smoking object had totally vanished without a trace. Interviewed later, the boy claimed he had put a small chip from the object into his pocket while looking it over. However, when he got hom a little while later it was gone.
“I don’t know what happened to it,” he confessed. “I didn’t have any holes in my pocket from which it could have fallen to the ground.”
What at first might seem to be a tale story fabricated by a highly imaginative youth has additional verification in that there were other witnesses to the event.
The Arizona Daily Star says that “three counselors who patrol the area while children deliver newspapers saw it fall but didn’t see where it hat the ground.”
The woman who lives in the house where the mailbox was knocked down, said she and her family assumed someone had hit it with a car. Margaret Pierce said she hadn’t heard anything unusual that morning, but around the time Warren usually delivers the paper to their house “our dogs just started barking and we couldn’t calm them down. They were really upset and that’s not like them at all.”
At the time the UFO group APRO was still active in Tucson and were called upon to make an investigation. As far as is known they never issued a report, and in the meanwhile Warren Weisman remained one frightened individual due to a possible visit by an MIB.
Another interesting case occurred in Greenland, Long Island, New York, sometime in October 1967.
Awakened by the sounds of his dogs barking Joseph Henslik looked outside and was surprised to see a strange circular object circling over the post office building near his house. Reacting quickly he grabbed his camera and ran to the patio. He took several photos of the luminous disc-shaped object that appeared to have a turret on top on which he could see several lighted windows.
Two days after once he had obtained the negatives two strange men visited Henslik at his home. After returning home at about 0300A that morning he noticed that two men were waiting for him.
He described them as being of medium height, black hair and very tanned skin. Both wore very tight-fitting black slacks; black turtle necked sweaters and what appeared to be a black “smoking” jacket. One of the men approached Henslik and in a strange Scandinavian sounding accent he told him that they were representatives of the government and that they needed to speak to him.
They refused to show him any credentials since they claimed to belong to a “top secret government agency”.
The stranger told him, “We know that you took some photographs that can be considered authentic and in the name of your family, the government and the world (!) We request you give those to us”.
Henslik told them that he did not have the photos yet, the men then left promising to return the next day. Precisely at the same time the next day Henslik received another visit, this time from three similarly dressed strangers, totally dressed in black.
Afraid Henslik gave them the negatives, which they examined closely with a flashlight, then, warned him not to tell anyone about the photos and walked away into the darkness. Henslik was surprised since he did not see a vehicle or any other mode of transportation in the area.

For more on these mysterious beings, here’s a recommended book about the MIB: The Real Men In Black: Evidence, Famous Cases, and True Stories of These Mysterious Men and their Connection to UFO Phenomena.
It has been theorized that aliens – and perhaps ghosts and shadow people as well – are actually beings from a dimension of time and space beyond our own. For their own mysterious reasons, they sometimes pay a visit to our plane of existence. They may appear as fleeting shadows, vaporous apparitions, or as creatures piloting strange aircraft. Why do they come here? Are they studying us, or are they merely observers on a recreational sightseeing tour of planet Earth? Did David Crow and two colleagues encounter these interdimensional tourists one spring night in the mountains of New York State? This is David’s story….
I AM A 61-year-old retired sheriff’s deputy. This event happened to me and two other officers one night while we were off duty on a fishing trip. We were in upstate New York, up in the Adirondack Mountains. It was April 18th, 2004.
We had just come in from the fishing boat and were tying in to the dock. While I was tying down my corner, I thought I saw a blue light flash across the lake. I looked up, and just as I did, I noticed that my two buddies looked up as well. The color of the flash reminded me of those “blacks lights” that are popular with kids, and it appeared to be about the size of a softball tossed into the air.
We watched this light for a good five or six seconds. It started to slow down considerably when it got to the opposite side of the lake. It then started descending toward the ground slowly near a farm silo just on the other side. The farm hadn’t been used in at least ten years. We watched this thing move down and down, until we could not see it in the sky anymore, but we could still see the colored glow shining into the air.
THEY PURSUE THE SPHERE
Being police officers, we decided to investigate this phenomenon. Each of us quickly untied our ropes and jumped back into the boat. We made it across the lake in about five minutes, tops.
As we docked the boat on a friend’s dock, who was away at the time, we looked in the direction of where the light was – approximately 300 yards away. It was now pulsating and no longer a steady glow. It was just behind the old silo and so we walked in that direction quite cautiously, yet very excited and quick.
When we reached the silo, suddenly the glow became solid again and stopped pulsing. The three of us, walking side by side, each with a pocket knife in hand, made it around to the other side where the light was coming from.
What we saw then was something I have never seen, or even could have fathomed.
It was a glowing circle or sphere about the size of a Volkswagen beetle, still the “black light” color. This sphere was transparent, and inside of it we saw what looked exactly like two humans – a male and a female – sitting facing one another. Yet there were no visible seats beneath them.
The woman had long blonde hair and was clothed in gray and black. The male had medium-length blond hair with similar clothes. The three of us all watched for a few seconds before we looked at each other, and almost simultaneously said, “Are we really seeing this?”
Each of us started whispering to each other what we were seeing, and all our descriptions were the exactly the same. As we were standing only about 25 to 30 feet away from this object, we clearly saw that the male and female had their hands pressed against each other’s and their eyes were closed. The sphere surrounding them had an almost fluid look to it, yet seemed solid at the same time. Does that make sense? Well, it didn’t make much to us.
”WE HAVE BEEN SEEN”
I had my cigarettes in my shirt pocket, so I pulled them out nervously. As I went to light a cigarette and just got my lighter flicked and cig lit, the female turned and looked directly at us. My buddy Tom elbowed me and said, “Great. Now we have been seen.”
I did not feel any fear whatsoever, and later found out neither of them were fearful either. I know this is all very hard to believe. Just imagine us trying to believe it while seeing it up close!
After the female looked at us, she smiled very pleasantly and took one hand away from her mate’s. He then looked directly at us and smiled – a very humbling smile. We all looked at each other again, like, “Seriously?” Her hand movement looked as if it was a slight wave, and the male proceeded to follow.
My two friends did not move, but just kept staring. I, however, raised my hand for some odd reason as to wave back. As I did, the two beings looked at each other and smiled. The female then reached her hand outside of the sphere and picked up what looked like some grass. They then closed their eyes again, put their hands back up to one another’s, and the sphere began ascending slowly at about the speed of a helicopter ascending! The only noise emitted was a very faint hum, almost like a powerful household ion air cleaner, if that makes sense.
The sphere rose to about 50 or 60 feet, and we could see that both the male and female were looking down at us; we could see their heads turn and look down in our direction. Shortly after, I’d say five to ten seconds, the sphere took off quite rapidly. It got smaller and smaller, ascending maybe 20 feet every couple of seconds. It took off directly toward the constellation of Orion, which was visible in the clean night sky, until we could not see the sphere anymore. It seemed to have faded right into the third star in Orion’s belt.
And then – poof! – we were back in the dark by the silo. We had no flashlights and were almost blind from having all that light and then sudden darkness. We held onto each other to keep from stumbling as we headed back to the boat. That night we sat outside of the camper and recounted and wrote down everything each of us saw. We later compared our notes, and all of them were the same.
To this day, all three of us remember it and don’t tell this story to many people. Our families know, and they do believe us, or so they say. A few others here and there know. But this was just as real as anything else I had ever experienced.

IS IT POSSIBLE that a man can achieve immortality – to live forever? That is the startling claim of a historical figure known as Count de Saint-Germain. Records date his birth to the late 1600s, although some believe that his longevity reaches back to the time of Christ. He has appeared many times throughout history – even as recently as the 1970s – always appearing to be about 45 years old. He was known by many of the most famous figures of European history, including Casanova, Madame de Pampadour, Voltaire, King Louis XV, Catherine the Great, Anton Mesmer and others.
Who was this mysterious man? Are the stories of his immortality mere legend and folklore? Or is it possible that he really did discover the secret of defeating death?
When the man who first became known as Saint-Germain was born is unknown, although most accounts say he was born in the 1690s. A genealogy compiled by Annie Besant for her co-authored book, The Comte De St. Germain: The Secret of Kings, asserts that he was born the son of Francis Racoczi II, Prince of Transylvania in 1690. Other accounts, taken less seriously by most, say he was alive in the time of Jesus and attended the wedding at Cana, where the young Jesus turned water into wine. He was also said to be present at the council of Nicaea in 325 A.D.
What is almost unanimously agreed on, however, is that Saint-Germain became accomplished in the art of alchemy, the mystical “science” that strives to control the elements. The foremost goal of this practice was the creation of “projection powder” or the elusive “philosopher’s stone,” which, it was claimed, when added to the molten form of such base metals as lead could turn them into pure silver or gold. Furthermore, this magical power could be used in an elixir that would impart immortality on those who drank it. Count de Saint-Germain, it is believed, discovered this secret of alchemy.
COURTING EUROPEAN SOCIETY
Saint-Germain first came into prominence in the high society of Europe in 1742. He had just spent five years in the shah of Persia’s court where he had learned the jeweler’s craft. He beguiled the royals and the rich with his vast knowledge of science and history, his musical ability, his easy charm and quick wit. He spoke many languages fluently, including French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and English, and was further familiar with Chinese, Latin, Arabic – even ancient Greek and Sanskrit.
It might have been his extraordinary learnedness that led acquaintances to see that he was a remarkable man, but an anecdote from 1760 most likely gave rise to the notion that Saint-Germain could be immortal. In Paris that year, Countess von Georgy heard that a Count de Saint-Germain had arrived for a soiree at the home of Madame de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV of France. The elderly countess was curious because she had known a Count de Saint-Germain while in Venice in 1710. Upon meeting the count again, she was astonished to see that he hadn’t appeared to age, and asked him if it was his father she knew in Venice.
“No, Madame,” he replied, “but I myself was living in Venice at the end of the last and the beginning of this century; I had the honor to pay you court then.”
“Forgive me, but that it impossible!” the perplexed countess said. “The Count de Saint-Germain I knew in those days was at least forty-five years old. And you, at the outside, are that age at present.”
“Madame, I am very old,” he said with a knowing smile.
“But then you must be nearly 100 years old,” said the astonished countess.
“That is not impossible,” the count told her matter-of-factly, then continued to convince the countess that he was indeed the same man she knew with the details of their previous meetings and of life in Venice 50 years earlier.
EVER PRESENT, NEVER AGING
Saint-Germain traveled extensively throughout Europe over the next 40 years – and in all that time never seemed to age. Those who met him were impressed by his many abilities and peculiarities:
The renowned 18th philosopher, Voltaire – himself a respected man of science and reason – said of Saint-Germain that he is “a man who never dies, and who knows everything.”
Throughout the 18th century, Count de Saint-Germain continued to use his seemingly endless knowledge of the world in the politics and social intrigues of the European elite:
In 1779 he went to Hamburg, Germany, where he befriended Prince Charles of Hesse-Cassel. For the next five years, he lived as a guest in the prince’s castle at Eckernförde. And, according to local records, that is where Saint-Germain died on February 27, 1784.
BACK FROM THE DEAD
For any ordinary mortal, that would be the end of the story. But not for Count de Saint-Germain. He would continue to be seen throughout the 19th century and into the 20th century!
After 1821, Saint-Germain may have taken on another identity. In his memoirs, Albert Vandam wrote of meeting a man who bore a striking resemblance to Count de Saint-Germain, but who went by the name of Major Fraser. Vandam wrote:
“He called himself Major Fraser, lived alone and never alluded to his family. Moreover he was lavish with money, though the source of his fortune remained a mystery to everyone. He possessed a marvelous knowledge of all the countries in Europe at all periods. His memory was absolutely incredible and, curiously enough, he often gave his hearers to understand that he had acquired his learning elsewhere than from books. Many is the time he has told me, with a strange smile, that he was certain he had known Nero, had spoken with Dante, and so on.”
Major Fraser disappeared without a trace.
Between 1880 and 1900, Saint-Germain’s name once again became prominent when members of the Theosophical Society, including famed mystic Helena Blavatsky, claimed that he was still alive and working toward the “spiritual development of the West.” There is even an allegedly genuine photo taken of Blavatsky and Saint-Germain together. And in 1897, the famous French singer Emma Calve dedicated an autographed portrait of herself to Saint-Germain.
The most recent appearance of a man claiming to be Saint-Germain was in 1972 in Paris when a man named Richard Chanfray announced he was the legendary count. He appeared on French television, and to prove his claim apparently turned lead into gold on a camp stove before the cameras. Chanfray later committed suicide in 1983.
So who was Count Saint-Germain? Was he a successful alchemist who found the secret of eternal life? Was he a time traveler? Or was he a highly intelligent man whose reputation became a fantastic legend?
If you’re still alive, Count de Saint-Germain, I invite you to contact me for an interview. I’m sure my readers would be interested in knowing what you’ve been up to.
BY M. LEE
WHEN WE HEAR “Men in Black,” most of us probably think of the 1997 motion-picture hit starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. But what many people do not realize is that the origin of the movie surrounds real-life encounters with “Men in Black.” There have been many paranormal, anomalous and supernatural reports throughout the years, and with these reports come encounters with intimidating men in black suits who are thought to belong to a secret organization with a secret agenda.
The Men in Black (MiB) were first reported in the 1940s, and books about them soon followed. Initially, the first reports of Men in Black involved witnesses of UFOs or extraterrestrial encounters. One of the first reports of MiB was in 1947 when Harold Dahl reported that he saw six UFOs when he and others were on a boat. After the encounter, Dahl said an intimidating muscular man wearing a nondescript black suit took him out to breakfast and threatened him and his family if he spoke of the encounter.
Dahl later declared his UFO report was a hoax, but some believe that he recanted to protect himself from MiB. Further research into other types of paranormal and anomalous phenomena, such as poltergeists, space-time disturbances, telepathy and psychokinesis, and Bigfoot, just to name a few, also reveals encounters by agents in black who collected information and silenced those specific witnesses who claimed to have experienced these phenomena.
Government agents or something weirder
MiB started gaining popularity in the 1950s with books such as Gray Barker’s They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers, and are still in the mainstream today with the Men in Black movies, which are based on a comic book inspired by the phenomenon.
Over the decades, MiB have taken somewhat different forms, but their similarities are undeniable. Stiff black suits, intimidating size and black Cadillacs are often associated with MiB. Some reports of MiB described them as being eerily inhuman, taking on characteristics of an unearthly nature. Some theorists propose that many of these reports of MiB were allowed to be disseminated in order to create an air of “unbelievability” among those who reported them. One thing is for certain: their apparent objective is to track down true paranormal encounters and control the situation and information to suit their agenda.
Throughout history, MiB have been primarily associated with UFOs and extraterrestrial phenomena because of the simple fact that these phenomena are primarily aerial events in the atmosphere and widely viewed by many witnesses. Therefore, when reports of MiB follow reports of UFOs or extraterrestrials, they are given more credence and attract a wider audience. But make no mistake, MiB have been monitoring, analyzing and researching every type of anomalous and paranormal phenomena imaginable.
Since the first reports of MiB, many have tried to discover the true identity and agenda of these dark agents, with little success. And for those who do know their true identity, either by association or as a “subject” of one of their operations, it has been strongly suggested that the means utilized to maintain total suppression of all information is disturbingly successful.
More recently, however, startling new information has surfaced that finally may reveal a significant fragment of the agency’s true identity. The shadowy MiB may in-fact be one in the same as a non-descript organization known as The Office of Scientific Investigation and Research (O.S.I.R.).
Created in the early 1940s as a byproduct of a top-secret government program, the O.S.I.R. is an ultra top-secret organization whose far-reaching operations can be found in every corner of the world. The Dahl encounter was also in 1947, and this was one of the first reports of MiB.
The O.S.I.R., among other things, conducts scientific research and investigations surrounding anomalous phenomena (also known as paranormal, parapsychological, supernatural and metaphysical phenomena). The organization is said to have significant power, utilizing their far-reaching authority to suppress and maintain their operations and very existence. They operate independently from all governments and private organizations, and while their true agenda is unknown, it is conjectured that the study of anomalous phenomena and its potential applications might be their focus.
With significant funding and resources, rumored advanced technology and influence with various governments, the O.S.I.R. infiltrates many aspects of society and government, scanning for phenomena and conducting their scientific operations. Aspects of science, law, medicine, religion, business/corporate world and government are permeated with their operatives.
And for anyone who might be involved in any of their clandestine operations, be it an experiencer of a phenomena or an individual recruited to partially assist their operations, the O.S.I.R. utilizes disturbingly unorthodox all-encompassing means of intimidation, coupled with techniques to suppress or cover up any and all information. It is these modus operandi of the O.S.I.R. that reveal without any doubt that they are indeed the notorious MiB.
Now you see them…
In order to conduct their clandestine operations, the organization takes on various aliases and “cover identities,” choosing to hide in plain sight.
The O.S.I.R. came into the public eye in 1990 when the organization opened a public affairs department. For a decade, by means of this department, the O.S.I.R. interacted with the general public and media, openly stating that their primary focus is “anomalous phenomena”. In 2000, the O.S.I.R. closed its public affairs department and terminated all contacts with the outside world.
Some conspiracy theorists state that the O.S.I.R. was conducting some sort of research or experimentation surrounding the “millennium,” which might explain why they disappeared just after 2000. But no confirmed explanations were ever given for why the organization re-immersed into obscurity or why they went overt to begin with.
The MiB, alias O.S.I.R., are suspected to be the shadow organization and work-horse behind countless above top-secret projects in every country, including U.S.’s own Majestic, Stargate and Area 51. To this day, they continue to infiltrate our world, seeking-out, analyzing and concealing at-all-costs extraordinary phenomena of every type for their ultra top-secret agenda.
UFO sightings and crop circles from various parts of the world. These sightings are not confirmed as real or fakes. Interesting non-the less! With so many sightings taking place, I for one am waiting (impatiently) for an actual landing and and a very real contact situation that will not be covered up! If and when that day ever comes, enjoy the footage anyways. If you or anyone you know have ever had any encounters etc., with UFO’s, your experiences are wanted! Send them in to be posted here at The Paranormal Effect.
