Good advice for ghost hunters!

This article is very interesting and very true. If you’ve read any of my postings about me and my wife having gone through many situations with the paranormal, then you have gotten a pretty good insight to what we had gone through. And yes, what this article says about taking precautions against  “ghostly intrusions” is very good advice…it may just save you from having to go through a lot of unwanted problems like we did. Why I say that is because my wife did go to a couple of pretty old grave yards and other areas in search of EVPs and there just might have been an unwanted entity that may have attached itself to my wife or myself and had come back to our former house with us. Ghost Hunting Examiner: Dangers of the paranormal: a cautionary tale for ghost hunters
Is investigating the paranormal potentially dangerous? Until recently, I would have said “No,” particularly if you are not a sensitive. Since I fall somewhere in between true sensitives and those who are psychic as a brick, I routinely use psychic shielding methods before I begin any investigation or similar type work. I know others on the R.I.P. team also employ their own rituals. However, I’ve now witnessed something that has me convinced that everyone – sensitive or not – needs to be aware of the possible dangers of ghost hunting and take precautions before investigating.

Last year, a new paranormal investigator visited a popular and reputedly “haunted” site and captured several EVPs. Over a period of several months, she became obsessed with capturing EVPs and she began to collect more and more of them, not only at haunted sites, but in her own home. Eventually, she began hearing the voices with her physical ears, rather than merely when she played back her recordings.

Very closely shared experiances!

Here’s a clipping of a really interesting story I just found while browsing one of my favorite paranormal sites.

The experiences noted below  are very, very close to what has and is being experienced in the house my wife and I are preparing to move out of. The shooting pain portion of that has been felt by myself, and that just started today (2/3/09) and that is something I have NEVER felt quite like that before. The emotional lows have been experienced often as well…coming on for really no apparent reason. Sure, we all feel depressed sometimes, but when it comes on for literally no reason, and very heavily…it really has to make you wonder. The odors: we’ve smelled other types of smells (perfume: sweet, pungent etc.), not the same as below. As for the EVPs…when I have the time, I will be posting a few select ones for everyone to hear.

Experiences Felt by Investigators:

Some investigators felt a heaviness on their chests. Some investigators felt a heaviness in the air as they entered one of the closets. One investigator felt depression or sadness. Three investigators smelled something foul, almost like stale vinegar. The smell comes and gos. The smell would last maybe a half a minute. Tom felt a headache as he entered the laundry room. He felt a shooting pain around his temple areas, later he would feel lightheaded. Investigator thought she saw a dewy mist go past her. At one point of time, I thought I saw a white fleeting figure by a 2nd floor window, it could have been my mind playing tricks. Robbie felt a brushing warmth that went across her face and later she thought she saw a quick moving shadow.

FINDINGS:

Investigator gets what sounds like the word ‘dodgers’ EVP. The EVP sounded like a man. The word sounded like ‘dodgers’ or ‘dodge her’. Another EVP was what sounded like ‘Moslo’ when the question was asked: ‘Is Anyone Here?’ Moslo could have been a ‘Must Go’. Tammy Straling received EVP that sounds like a woman sighing. Kathy takes a picture in the back room on the first floor that looked like a twisting tornado with a bright light at the base of the tornado. Could this photograph be of a vortex/portal? All EVPs and Kathy’s vortex photo need to be further analyzed. Robbie takes a picture with a black shadow moving across the ceiling. Her 2nd photo shows no shadow moving across ceiling. I had Tom take Robbie back into the same area to try and recreate the photo and the photo could not be recreated.

CONCLUSION:

With the possible EVPs and the unusual vortex photo. This place seems to have possible paranormal activity.

Last days in our haunted house

Since this past December of 2008 when we had finally finished closing out on our sale of our house and land, there’s been a noticeable increase in “things” happening dureing the day and night at our so called “haunted house”.

Last month, Jan. ‘09, an inspector had to come in and look over the foundation, wiring and all for the new buyers. In what used to be our livingroom, we have our home theater system set up, speakers mounted securely  on the wall etc.  In front of 4 people, one of the mounted wall speakers to the theater system flew off the wall and hit the inspector less than lightly in the side of his head!

This whole thing was witnessed by my wife, myself and the new couple who baught the house.

20 minutes later as myself, the same inspector and the husband of the new couple were out in the garage, the inspector climbed up into the attic to check out the layout up there, I was told less than 8 minutes afterwards by my wife and the wife of the new couple that they BOTH heard what sounded like a person yelling loudly & briefly from somewhere in the house.  No one else heard this!

I know for a fact that whatever this entity is that has been inhabiting this house and causeing a great deal of problems, is not very happy with the new buyers.

Both my wife and I have also been experiencing activity such as objects moving by themselves, again (hasn’t happened for more than 2 months until now), certain smells like perfume or a clean hospital like anti-septic smell. Now my father did pass away in this house back in 1994 from cancer and was tended to by Hospice daily back then. I myself have seen partial bodied apparitions to full bodied. But only very short sightings in the recent months. Both my wife and I have been experiencing an increase in lucid to near lucid dreaming. A very big increase.

The closer we get to leaving this house to move, the more activity increases. I’ll be posting a few more details very soon. So stay tuned.

Signs of a haunting

Here’s a pretty handy list of signs of a haunting at your house etc., I felt this list needed to be posted here (also because of what my wife and I are going through at our own house). Most of these are pretty obvious, but some of these may apply to your situation.

Signs your house might be haunted:

• Unexplained noises – footsteps; knocks, banging, rapping; scratching sounds; sounds of something being dropped. Sometimes these noises can be subtle and other times they can be quite loud.
• Doors, cabinets and cupboards opening and closing – most often, these phenomena are not seen directly. The experiencer either hears the distinct sounds of the doors opening and closing (homeowners get to know quite well the distinctive sounds their houses make) or the experiencer will return to a room to find a door open or closed when they are certain that it was left in the opposite position. Sometimes furniture, like kitchen chairs, are perceived to have been moved. Very rarely will the experiencer actually witness the phenomenon taking place.
• Lights turning off and on – likewise, these events are seldom seen actually occurring, but the lights are switched on or off when the experiencer knows they were not left that way. This can also happen with TVs, radios and other electrically powered items.
• Items disappearing and reappearing – this phenomenon, which we have dubbed “the DOPler Effect” (DOP = Disappearing Object Phenomenon), has been examined in the article “The DOPler Effect.” Others have called this “the borrowers” phenomenon, and it’s the familiar experience of not being able to find a regularly used item – say, your set of car keys – which you believe you placed in a spot you routinely place them. But they’re gone and you look high and low for them with no success. Some time later, the keys are found – in exactly the place you normally put them. It’s as if the object was borrowed by someone or something for a short time, then returned. Sometimes they are not returned for days or even weeks, but when they are, it’s in an obvious place that could not have been missed by even a casual search.
• Unexplained shadows – the sighting of fleeting shapes and shadows, usually seen out of the corner of the eye. This phenomenon has also been discussed in some detail in “Shadow People.” Many times, the shadows have vaguely human forms, while other times they are less distinguishable or smaller.
• Strange animal behavior – a dog, cat or other pet behaves strangely. Dogs may bark at something unseen, cower without apparent reason or refuse to enter a room they normally do. Cats may seem to be “watching” something cross a room. Animals have sharper senses than humans, and many researchers think their psychic abilities might be more finely tuned also.
• Feelings of being watched – this is not an uncommon feeling and can be attributed to many things, but it could have a paranormal source if the feeling consistently occurs in a particular part of the house at a particular time.
• Mild psychokinetic phenomena – hearing a door open or close is one thing. Actually seeing it happen is quite another. Similarly, actually seeing a light go on or off by itself is greater proof that something unexplained is happening. Do you see the TV or radio turn on? Or perhaps you’re present when a child’s powered toy begins to operate on its own. Doors and windows are locked or unlocked. Some people report that when they are in bed they can feel and/or hear something sitting on the bed.
• Feelings of being touched – the feeling of being watched is one thing, and actually feeling like you are being touched is quite another. Some people feel something brush past them, something touching their hair or “a hand” on the shoulder. Some feel a gentle poke, push or nudge.
• Cries and whispers – on occasion, muffled voices, whispering and crying can be heard. Sometimes it’s music from some unknown source. People hear their names being said. This phenomenon, as is true for the one above, gains more credibility if more than one person hears or sees the same thing at the same time.
• Cold or hot spots – cold spots are classic haunting symptoms, but any instance of a noticeable variance in temperature without a discernable cause could be evidence.
• Unexplained smells – the distinct fragrance of a perfume or cologne that you do not have in your house. This phenomenon comes and goes without any apparent cause and may accompany other phenomena, such as shadows, voices or psychokinetic phenomena. Foul odors can happen in the same way.

Rarer still are more extreme phenomena, some of which have been called poltergeist phenomena, and can be quite strong evidence of a true haunting:

• Moving or levitating objects (severe psychokinetic phenomena) – dinner plates sliding across the table; pictures flying off walls; doors slamming shut with great force; furniture sliding across the floor.
• Physical assault – scratches, slaps and hard shoves. This kind of personal assault is extremely rare, but obviously highly disturbing.
• Other physical evidence – unexplained writing on paper or walls; hand prints and footprints.
• Apparitions – physical manifestation of a spirit or entity. These phenomena are also very rare and can take many forms: human-shaped mists or forming mists of some indistinguishable shape; transparent human forms that disappear quickly; and most rarely, human forms that look as real and solid as any living person, but that disappear into a room or even while being viewed.

All the above had been posted at another site. Since this list is actually pretty handy and you might want to print this out, I wanted to post it here for everyone to study and see if any of the above applies to your particular situation. The one thing on this list my wife and I have not had happen yet is the physical assault, and we do not want that to happen of course. As far as any physical evidence, we have had hand prints appear on a mirror hanging on a wall in our kitchen. The mirror measures roughly 3′ X 4′ or so, and a hand print had appeared (not before our eyes unfortunately…I would have loved to see that!) The hand print is NOT from any of us, nor is not from any visiting family etc. We have no children, and no other family has the keys to our house. So no accidental brushing or touching against or on the mirror could have happened.

Hospitals and the disembodied

When you pass by a local graveyard, you must be thinking how haunted these places must really be. Well, maybe you don’t think that specificaly, but I myself have thought that on many occassions. Having done a few EVP capture sessions at two of our local graveyards and having captured five good, clear EVPs, it’s very clear that graveyards have a fair amount of activity. Graveyards are one good place for certain investigations, but hospitals, given the fact that many people do and have passed away at these places, most certainly are hot spots for paranormal activity.

After all, if you had suddenly passed away at a hospital, it would be a traumatic passing for you…not wanting to have died there, but you had no choice and did anyways. Those traumatic moments would certainly lead to a residual haunting in some cases and in most, an ongoing one. The video below is a very good example. It’s an investigation done by the Oklahoma City Ghost Club at the Old Woodward Hospital. I think you’ll enjoy this as much as I did.

When your home becomes a haven for spirits – part3

Amongst the more disturbing activities that have taken place at our home, one of them had taken place back in September of 2005 when two of our very healthy cats, both younger but still very healthy (checked out by the vet, given their shots, given nutritional food…not the low end junk on the market) and had no signs of infections, illness etc. The deaths were not back to back. One took place about the first week of Sept., the other in the third week. We always keep anything poisinous in cabinets out in the garage. So there had been no way those cats could have gotten into anything like that. Why does this seem so mysterious? Because those cats were checked out very closely and they should not have died like this. Later on, as in this year, my wife asked these entities via a digital recorder to capture a few EVPs if the spirits had anything to do with those cats dieing…the answer was yes.

We also have a small dog who refuses to stay in the cellar by himself. We don’t keep him down there of course, but whenever he goes down there, he simply refuses to stay there by himself. Now this is a dog that has chased a full grown german shepard down the road from our driveway…so he’s a brave little thing! This cellar is a prime spot where I have felt this “thing” standing next to me and then giving me this impression that I need to get out of that cellar right away (this happens randomly and not every time I go down there). It’s the one place where the more aggressive EVPs have been captured. My wife and I both have sensed anything from real fear being directed towards us, to feelings of despair and depression in this cellar. My wife has captured many unusual sounds on her digital recorder. Some of these sounds range from growling type sounds to walking (only once has that been captured) and sounds of a child giggling and saying that it liked to play down there. When asked if this child entity was the reason why our washing machine just died for no good reason…it said yes!

It’s normal for any cellar to be cool in the summer. There have been more than a few times when we have both felt colder than normal spots in this cellar. Cold spots that would slowly move from one end to the other. Now these same cold spots have also been felt out in the yard too. On warm summer nights out in the open where there’s no way for any tempature variations to set in because of being close to the woods and all. The EVPs are captured in conjunction with these cold spots, whether it’s outside or inside.

Focusing on the EVPs for a minute, these EVPs again are of a child and what sounds like 3 or 5 seperate adult voices. I’ll post some of these captured EVPs later on. Most every one of these EVPs have not been nice ones either. There have been more than a few times where these EVPs have been threatning. These threats haven’t been about any bodily harm, but as in claiming this entity will never leave and will continue to watch and will not allow us to ever banish this thing. So I guess we won’t be calling in the ghostbusters then huh? lol. When asking this thing its name, several have come up, among those names it has used legion. A demonic name signifieing there are many of its kind. Now maybe this entity is merely being playful or perhaps this entity is demonic in nature. Remember, this land we are on was the site of a lot of misery, bloodshed etc., because of the history of the settlers and Indians in this area. So that in itself lends to the reasons why there has been so much activity here.

Now as far as some of the other recent activity at this house…there have been many nights where my wife was in the back room useing the computer and she has felt something touching the back of her neck, touching her feet, her arm and shoulder. None of these incidents have been harmful, just noticable touching. She has witnissed itmes in that room move by themselves for a short period of time.
