The Paranormal Effect

Exploring the reality of the paranormal

When Time Goes Crazy

IN THE MOVIE Star Trek: Generations, Captains Kirk and Picard join forces to fight Dr. Soran, a madman who viewed time as his enemy. Picard, however, came to see time as a companion that accompanies us on our journeys through life.

Throughout the many experiences of our lives, we regard time in both ways: as a kind of enemy when we’re late for something or eager for something to happen; but on an everyday basis as something we can rely on. One thing follows another, cause and effect, twenty-four hours in a day.

Every once in awhile, however, time seems to go haywire, gets fouled up in a glitch, moves impossibly fast or impossibly slow. Is it time itself that gets screwed up? Or is it just our perception of it? Consider these reports from people who suspect that the flow of time (or the flow of their lives through it) went mysteriously wrong.

TIME MOVED TOO SLOWLY

Don and his wife had their encounter with missing time in the Nevada desert in 1997. They were driving their small, three-cylinder Geo Metro to Laughlin, Nevada from San Diego, California. “We took the back way to Laughlin on 8 East through the desert to 95 North,” says Don. “Around dusk, our windshield had a rather large collection of bugs, so we pulled into the only gas station at Vidal Junction to clean the glass.”

As they pulled into the mini mart station, Don noticed a seedy looking character at the pumps staring at him and his wife. He had greasy hair, a disco shirt and a leather vest, and was driving a beat up, early ’70s Toronado. Don quickly cleaned his windows and got back in his car. The greasy dude was still staring at them.

Darkness was quickly approaching as Don pulled back onto 95N, hoping the creepy stranger would not follow them. But he did. “Immediately, I had a bad feeling,” says Don, “knowing that in the lonely desert there are bandits who prey on tourists, nudging their car, then robbing them after they pull over for a fender bender.”

Don knew his Geo Metro was no match for the stranger’s aging muscle car, but tried to outrun him anyway. Even managing to reach 80 mph, the stranger stayed on his tail. Don and his wife began to get frightened. “I told my wife to get the gun out of our backpack we travel with for protection.”

But then something weird happened. “A split second later, with no turn offs, we were suddenly alone on the highway,” Don remembers. “No greasy dude, no one but oncoming traffic miles ahead. A few minutes later we were at 95N and Hwy 40 in Needles. But it was 7:00 p.m. when we left Vidal Junction, and Interstate 40 is fifty-five miles north of there. Now it was only 7:20 p.m. Somehow we’d made the entire fifty-five miles in twenty minutes! No Geo Metro can fly like that. We would have had to go at least 130 mph or more on a two-lane that twists through some mountains. The other strange thing was we had a strange floating feeling just as the other car disappeared.”

TIME MOVED TOO QUICKLY

Two years later, in August 1999, Kim and her husband also had a weird experience near Laughlin, Nevada. Instead of their trip taking a far shorter time than it should have, it took inexplicably longer. “I was following my husband home from Las Vegas to Kingman, near Laughlin,” Kim says. “He was on his Harley and I was following in my car. We had made this trip several times before and knew exactly how long it took to reach home from the Hoover Dam – one-and-a-half hours.”

The weirdness began with their perception of the weather. “My husband swears it was raining in the distance and lightning was so close he could almost feel the electricity,” Kim says. “I swear it was dry as a bone. Also, I had a hard time keeping up as he was going very fast around the corners. I could see him in the distance, and suddenly there were a lot of cars ahead of me and behind him. I thought that was odd since there was a mountain up one side and a sheer cliff down the other. There was nowhere for those cars to have come from. Oddly enough, as soon as I thought that was weird for them to be there, they were gone.

“It seemed as though the trip was taking forever and I was getting really tired. When we arrived home, I thought it was really late and so did my husband. We looked at the clock and the one-and-a-half hour trip had taken over four hours! We are afraid of what happened to us during that missing time.”

MISSING TIME AND A BROKEN CLUTCH

John and his wife also seem to have experienced a serious amount of missing time, and their car was also physically affected. “It was about 10 a.m. when my wife and I departed home in our jeep heading toward the local mall,” reports John. “This was a trip we had undertaken a hundred times before. The entire event would normally take about three hours and we would be back home around 1 p.m. The drive to the mall takes about ten minutes.”

John parked in their usual area, and he and his wife went into the mall to shop. “As we departed the mall, we both looked at each other and we both felt that something was just not right,” John says. “First, for some unknown reason, I had parked the vehicle in an unfamiliar area of the mall, a parking area that I had never used before. Then when we entered the vehicle, it would not start. Finally, when it did start, the clutch would not engage, like it was loose or broken. We noticed the sun was setting! I looked at my watch and noticed it had stopped. I looked at the clock display on my dashboard and it read 5:30 p.m.!

“My wife and I still can’t figure out how we lost almost five hours of our lives. We did nothing unusual or out of routine. And I don’t understand how a brand new vehicle gets a broken clutch while sitting in a parking lot.”

OUT OF TIME AND PLACE

Such instance of missing time can be quite confusing and stressful, especially when it occurs among other people who are unaffected. Consider the case of a young medical student we’ll call Jim. One weekend he was at the beach with several of his friends from medical school. They had arrived together at the hotel where they would stay, and Jim didn’t really pay attention to the hotel’s name or its location. They left their luggage and went off for some beers, walking.

Jim recalls that he was walking behind the others, talking to one of his friends at around 2 p.m. Quite suddenly he found himself at the beach, and it was already very dark. His first reaction was confusion, as he knew he was lost, followed by anger, sure that his mates were playing a joke on him. He tried to figure out where he was, walked a little bit, but the beach was deserted.

When he finally made it to the town, he hired a cab. Because he did not know the name of the hotel, it took them two more hours to find it. When Jim went into the room, he was sharing with his friends, he was very upset and said clearly that their joke was not funny. As he demanded them to reimburse him his cab fare, he noticed the puzzled expressions on everyone’s faces, as if they were seeing a ghost. One of them said, “Where the hell have you been? We have been to the police, to every hospital, and we have looked for you for ages!” They were very upset.

Apparently, what for Jim had been a blink of an eye, for the others was actually five hours. To this day, none of them can explain how Jim “disappeared” while talking to his friends and appeared at a different place… and where he actually was during those five hours.

PORTAL TO A FUTURE SOCIETY

As if such experiences aren’t weird enough, sometimes they get even weirder. On these occasions, people seem to slip not only through time, but also into other dimensions of reality. One night Ben was walking with a friend on a dirt trail between the closely connected towns of Hurley, Wisconsin and Ironwood, Michigan.

“We were half way to his house,” Ben recalls, “when suddenly I was standing outside a huge skyscraper building in what I, for some reason, believe to be Detroit. I entered the building and there was a lady with platinum blonde hair. Her clothes didn’t look odd or anything. She told me that I was on time for my appointment, so I followed her to an elevator. We stepped inside and she pushed the button for the fifty-third floor.

“When we got out of the elevator, I followed her to an office. The walls and the floor were done in a decorative business-like way. We got to the door and she told me to go in and sit down. When I went into the office, it looked huge. I don’t think I have ever seen a view so panoramic and beautiful as that one. A man told me to sit. He then started to tell me that they – they meaning the company or something – were happy that I had joined and I would be a perfect fit.

“All of a sudden, I was in a good-sized hallway with about fifty other people, standing in a military-type line. We all had the same blue and black uniforms on and were marching toward a big open garage-style door.”

Suddenly it all ended, and Ben was back in Ironwood, kneeling on the ground by some bushes. “My friend asked me what was wrong,” Ben says. “I asked how long I had been kneeling and he said just for a couple of seconds.”

GARDEN OF THE FIFTH DIMENSION

James also believes he glanced into an alternate reality. James loved to garden, and when he moved into a three-bedroom house complete with a 150-ft. garden, he hardly made time for anything else. “After planting some new borders,” he says, “I proceeded to my den for a quick cup of tea and a snack. The den itself was very small and had one window and a small gap near the roof for spying out of.

“When I proceeded to take a peek out of this hole, I was amazed at what I saw: There was a small pond and beautiful palm trees surrounding it. The dull light green lawn of my garden was replaced with lush, dark green grass, and it was tremendously sunny! The shed was already on the property when I bought it, but the previous owner – a middle-aged man who never went in there – said he had no need for it, so he left it. It was about 10-20 years old and in great condition.

“Could it be that this shed is some sort of portal, depicting another place on this earth? The garden itself had not changed when I took a look out the normal window. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to take a look at that paradise-like place even when I look out the gap… although I’d be eager to see if people on the other side can see me!”

Pissed-off elves bombard Icelandic town with rocks

The good burghers of the Icelandic town of Bolungarvik have intervened to prevent further action by elves who are evidently unhappy they weren’t consulted about the construction of an anti-avalanche barrier.

Bolungarvik recently suffered a bombardment of rocks during “routine dynamiting” on the barrier, with fist-sized missiles causing damage to several properties.

This led locals to suspect the huldufólk (hidden people) had finally got a bit miffed with civil engineering projects, including the construction last year of a road tunnel through a hill.

Icelandic folklore advises caution when venturing into possible huldufólk territory, and disturbing the rocks in which they’re believed to live.

Bolungarvik’s council rejected calls by “seers” to apologise to the Little People for the disruption, claiming there was a perfectly logical explanation for the dynamite mishap.

The townsfolk responded last week by organising an impromptu appeasement ceremony at the blasting site, offering song and prayers in the hope of restoring peace between humans and huldufólk.

Local musician Benedikt Sigurdsson explained: “I have now been asked by both elves and men to broker a compromise here, and I hope that this song will suffice.” ®

Monsters, Mutants and Other Animal Mysteries

A real monster?

Mysterious animals seem to be popping up all over the place. And not just in remote jungles or seldom-traveled tropical waters. They are allegedly appearing in such unlikely places as Harford County, Maryland and San Antonio, Texas. Rural villages of Chile also continue to be harassed by strange creatures, some of which fit the description and modus operandiof the dreaded Chupacabras.

Scientists are routinely discovering new species of animals. An exploration of a large ice-covered pool in the Yukon Territory of the Canada Basin is finding several new species in what is believed to be the world’s oldest seawater. In May, 2004, a new species of orange-colored, mouse-like mammal was discovered in the mountains of the Philippines. A bird that researchers believe is new to science was recently found on the Indonesian island of Wangi Wangi. In August, 2004, a new kind of animal was found in Australia that an expert with the National Parks and Wildlife Service said resembled a rock wallaby, but wasn’t.

It’s quite another thing, however, when an unknown creature wanders into your backyard. But we must be cautious about jumping to the conclusion that an unidentified animal is truly unidentifiable. Such is the case with the so-called Glyndon Mystery Monster that made news in July, 2004. A strange-looking dog-like creature was spotted by several residents around Glyndon, Maryland. Jay Wroe even managed to photograph the animal in his backyard. Animal experts were unable to identify it, some saying it looked like a cross between a dog and a hyena. So they set a trap for the creature in Wroe’s yard – and actually caught the poor animal, which turned out to be a red fox with a bad case of mange.

Likewise, reports of dinosaur-like creatures reported by people driving near Arica, Chile turned out to be misidentified ostriches.

So if a fox can be labeled a monster and an ostrich can be seen as a dinosaur, we must be open-mindedly skeptical when we read about some of the other interesting sightings taking place around the globe. Maybe they are bizarre new creatures, maybe not:

• The Asheboro panther. In January, 2004 in Asheboro, North Carolina, Denise Williams was dressing her kids to go outside and play in the snow when she glanced out her window and saw a large, black, cat-like creature. She managed to videotape what she described as a panther-like animal, and representatives of the North Carolina zoo estimated that the tracks in the snow they found were made by a feline weighing 35 to 40 pounds. The videotape was too fuzzy to provide definitive identification. It was rumored that the animal might have been responsible for the death of a pet dog in the area. There were no reports of an escaped panther from any zoo, and the mystery animal was never captured.

• The Lancashire blobster. There is a rich history in the annals of Forteana of mysterious “things” washing up on shores around the world. They are often unidentifiable because they are in various stages of decomposition or have provided lunch for other sea creatures. One such unidentified “blobster” was stumbled upon by a cameraman on the Lancashire, U.K. coast while he was walking his dog in late July, 2004. The rotting carcass, which featured a long beak, puzzled park rangers, zoologists, marine and other wildlife experts. Finally, as if to get the mystery over with, the manager of an aquarium declared he was 99 percent certain it was a squid. Other “experts” weren’t so sure and offered such other possibilities as a walrus pup, a dolphin, a penguin, seal or even a platypus.

• The hairless dogoyote. Rancher Devin Macanally shot and killed an unknown animal that he says was attacking his livestock on his ranch in Elmendorf, Texas in July, 2004. Despite good photos and the actual body of the animal, it has yet to be identified. Because it was killing smaller farm animals, some wondered if this was the legendary Chupacabras. The hairless, blue-gray, 20-pound creature, which somewhat resembles a dog, may have been responsible for the disappearance of more than 40 of the rancher’s chickens. The bones of the unknown animal have been sent for DNA testing, but meanwhile, experts at the San Antonio Zoo could not identify it. The mammal curator at the zoo theorized it was “a mix between a dog and a coyote,” and admitted that its lower jaw was “not normal for any mammal.”

• The PNG Dinosaur. A formal hunt was organized by police in Papua New Guinea when several locals reported seeing a large dinosaur-like creature lumbering about in March, 2004. The villagers described the creature as being about three metres (nine feet) tall, gray in color, with a head like a dog’s and a crocodile-like tail. The hunt did not find the mysterious animal (or any ostriches).

• Dog-eating Chupacabras. In January, 2004, a 40-year-old man was scared out of his wits by a monster he encountered while driving on the road around 5 a.m. at Santa Filomena, Chile. Juan Berríos described it to reporter Scott Corrales as “a bipedal animal standing 1.50 meters tall, with hind legs like those of a kangaroo, small, curved hands ending in talons, a sharp mane like that of a porcupine running along its back, a tail with a rattle, a muzzle like that of a fierce wolf, several rows of teeth and voracious red eyes.” Most terrifying, this monster was carrying the bleeding body of what may have been a dog in its mouth.

• Chupacabras’ cousin. In August, Corrales reported on the discovery of an unidentified animal inside a doghouse belonging to Manuel Otazo in Valparaiso, Chile. According to Corrales, “Manuel Otazo explained that the animal had a small head and red fur, with large fangs, claws and hands resembling wings, different from any rodent or known domestic animal.” Otazo believed it could have been a relative of the Chupacabras.

Other Recent Animal Anomalies and Oddities:

• Fertile mules. Ask any veterinarian or zoologist and they will tell you that it is impossible for a mule to give birth. By definition, a mule (a cross between a female horse and a male donkey) is an animal bread to be sterile. Yet on June 7, 2004, in the Bhutan village of Dorikha, a golden yellow mule gave birth to a black foal. This “impossibility” is not an isolated case. In October, 2002, a mule gave birth in rural Morocco.

• Giant hog. They dubbed it “Hogzilla” – a gigantic feral hog that stretched 12 feet long and weighed in at a whopping 1,000 pounds. Chris Griffin killed the monstrous pig on his plantation in Alapaha, Georgia in July, 2004.

• Seagull attack. A retired man in Falkirk, Scotland became the victim of a flock of seagulls that seemed to really have it out for him. “James McNeish said the gulls would swoop and peck at him when he walked out of the door,” reported the Daily Record on July 13, 2004. “He also said they would stare at him through his windows.” The strange incident became more and more like Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds when the gulls began to go after children as they played in a nearby park.

New Ohio testimony: Bright light UFO shoots straight up

Another witness came forward June 28, 2011, to report a bright light moving across the sky under 1,000 feet that “quickly shot up and ascended” before disappearing, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witnress reporting database.

The latest report comes from Ohio in MUFON Case # 29762.

Earlier reports of a similar bright light at lower altitudes that quickly shot up into the sky were made from Rhode Island and Kansas as told in: Rhode Island, Kansas witnesses describe bright light.

In this latest case, the reporting witness stated: “My husband and I were standing on our back patio at 11:30 p.m. EST when I noticed to the west a single light, slowly heading towards us approximately two miles away. After watching it approach our direction for a couple of minutes; I asked my husband if he noticed any flashing lights coming from it and he confirmed he saw no flashing lights either. There also was no sound coming from the object. We both watched it for another couple of minutes until it was just north of our location. It appeared to be about 500 -1000 feet above the ground. The light then quickly shot up and ascended in the sky until it disappeared.”

No images or video were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 28, 2011. The incident occurred on June 26, 2011. No town name was mentioned in the public portion of the report. The above quotes were edited for clarity.

Ohio is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating,
with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Ohio had 8 reports in May 2011 – while California had 55 UFO reports – the highest reporting state in the nation.

Hollow Earth: A topic that’s gaining popularity

Hollow Earth. The very title envisions exotic races thriving in vast cities below our very feet. Ancient peoples and unknown flora and fauna no surface dweller has ever seen before. Hollow Earth had also been a point of focus by the nazis regime as well, to gain new power for domination on a new level. Explorers have also made this fantastic place a priority over the years to prove this place actually exists. Below is a collection of links from many different sites with a good deal of very interesting information and more.

Begin your journey into the Hollow Earth realm:

Nazis and the Hollow Earth

Did Hitler’s Nazis believe in a hollow Earth – and did they escape to the planet’s interior after the war?

Mysterious Tunnels

Expeditions exploring deep, mysterious tunnels and caves in various parts of the world return with strange tales of subterranean civilizations, cities and advanced yet ancient technology.

Another Human Civilization May Live Inside Earth’s Hollows

Legends say that an entry to the underground realms was located somewhere in the North, and legendary ancient tribes living on the planet centuries ago used the entries to have a good shelter under the Earth’s surface.

The Expanding Hollow Earth Theory

MUFON investigators report triangle UFOs and missing time

Actual alien tech or new black Op's tech of our own?

Two Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) investigators report observing two triangle-shaped objects in the sky and experiencing missing time as they traveled south along Highway 67 in Missouri’s Saint Francious County enroute to the Piedmont UFO Festival, according to June 20, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network witness reporting database.

The reporting witness is Assistant State Director for Missouri and the second witness is a STAR Team Investigator for Kansas MUFON.

While driving along Missouri’s Highway 67, they noticed a bright object to their east.

“As I was driving south on 67 Highway past Farmington at the very south edge of Francious County, I noticed a bright object in the sky to the east,” the reporting witness stated. “The object appeared to be three very bright lights in a triangular pattern. It was approximately the size of a large pea held at arm’s length. The object was much brighter than any planet (5 x brighter than Venus) and was bluish/white in color. It was at approximately 50 degrees off the horizon and ENE of our position. It appeared to get larger and clearer as I watched it. I also had an uneasy feeling, which started before I saw the object.”

The reporting witness then asked the second witness to have a look – but the first object disappeared while a second object appeared.

“He said the object moved to the North, and when I looked it was gone. He watched several shooting objects without tails moving from west to northeast, but behaving like shooting stars. Then three long, white lights appeared, moving very fast from a NE to SW direction. The first triangular object appeared and disappeared three times. These objects moved around the sky for approximately 15 minutes. The skies clouded over and we lost sight of the objects. We were both very uneasy about the entire sighting, and thought it was coincidental that this occurred while we were on our way to the Piedmont UFO Festival where I was speaking.”

Upon arriving at the event, they realized that there was more than one hour of missing time.

“The duration of the trip should have been six hours according to my GPS. With stops taken into consideration, we should have arrived at 9:30 p.m., but we arrived at our destination at 10:37 p.m., so we had over an hour of missing time. We cannot account for the missing time.”

But the strange events did not stop upon arriving at the UFO event – odd things happened to a computer that the reporting witness had brought with her to the festival.

“While at the event, my computer, which contained the Power Point presentation on UFO sightings in Missouri, was stolen from my locked vehicle. It has since reappeared in my house on my dining room table, minus the Power Point presentation I was going to use and another one on a different UFO case. The laptop was not there last night, but was this morning. I am absolutely positive it was in my vehicle, since we discussed taking it inside on the first day of the event (Friday), but I said no since I didn’t need it until Saturday, and moved it to a different spot in the back seat.”

And during their stay at the event, some paranormal events occurred.

“We had some paranormal events happen at the house we were staying at in Piedmont, which consisted of scratching and banging noises on the outside of the house and a glass breaking sound inside the house, which two of us heard, as well as some objects moved to different locations.”

Saint Francious County is located in Missouri’s Lead Belt, population 65,359. No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 20, 2011. The events occurred on June 16, 2011.

Missouri is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating,
with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Missouri had 12 reports in May 2011 – while California had 55 UFO reports – the highest reporting state in the nation. Missouri remains on our Watch List.

The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON.

I am the Assistant State Director for Missouri MUFON, and a Start Team Investigator. The person with me was a Star Team investigator for Kansas MUFON. We had a spectacular UFO sighting while on the last leg of our trip from Kansas City to Piedmont, MO, located in the SE corner of Missouri in Wayne County.

The duration of the trip should have been six hours according to my GPS. With stops taken into consideration, we should have arrived at 9:30 p.m., but we arrived at our destination at 10:37 p.m., so we had over an hour of missing time. We cannot account for the missing time.

As I was driving South on 67 Highway past Farmington at the very South edge of Francious County, I noticed a bright object in the sky to the East. The object appeared to be three very bright lights in a triangular pattern. It was approximately the size of a large pea held at arm’s length. The object was much brighter than any planet (5 x brighter than Venus) and was bluish/white in color. It was at approximately 50 degrees off the horizon and ENE of our position. It appeared to get larger and clearer as I watched it. I also had an uneasy feeling, which started before I saw the object.

I asked my passenger (the other MUFON investigator) to take a look at the object, so he opened the sunroom of my SUV and watched it. He said the object moved to the North, and when I looked it was gone. He watched several shooting objects without tails moving from West to Northeast, but behaving like shooting stars. Then three long white lights appeared, moving very fast from a NE to SW direction. The first triangular object appeared and disappeared three times. These objects moved around the sky for approximately fifteen minutes. The skies clouded over and we lost sight of the objects. We were both very uneasy about the entire sighting, and thought it was coincidental that this occurred while we were on our way to the Piedmont UFO Festival where I was speaking.

I am absolutely positive it was in my vehicle, since we discussed taking it inside on the first day of the event (Friday), but I said no since I didn’t need it until Saturday, and moved it to a different spot in the back seat.

Also notable: We had some paranormal events happen at the house we were staying at in Piedmont, which consisted of scratching and banging noises on the outside of the house and a glass breaking sound inside the house, which two of us heard, as well as some objects moved to different locations. I had a strange dream about being abducted and restrained on a UFO, but that may be just a dream given the circumstances.

Attached are Google Earth pictures with the location of the first sighting noted and the location of our destination. Note that East of our first position where the first UFO was spotted is the Mississippi River.

UFO over Scotland?

It’s hard to imagine the industrial town of Bonnybridge near Falkirk as a portal to another dimension but the everyday hustle and bustle of the area hides a more mysterious and sinister background.

Nicknamed the ‘UFO capital of Scotland’, Bonnybridge is a hotspot for extra-terrestrial activity and people from around the world have come to the town to gaze at the skies above. Some reports state there are over 300 UFO sightings a year in the town alone.

UFO expert and author of Beyond the Falkirk Triangle Ronald Halliday believes that Scotland’s twilight zone isn’t just restricted to the Falkirk area and there are strange lights to be seen all over the country. Is there something strange going on in Scotland’s skies?

Speaking to The Hour Ronald said: “People do have close up encounters and people do claim to have seen things that are very hard to explain right away.

“There have been thousands of reported sightings in Scotland and in fact the country has been labelled the UFO capital of the world. There has even been some suggestion that Scotland acts as a window into another dimension.

“Again, there have been thousands of reported sightings of UFOs in Bonnybridge over the years and all sort of strange things have been happening. People from all over the world have gone there to see if they can spot something. If you want to see a UFO come to Scotland.”

The release of previously confidential MOD files by the National Archive in 2008 unravelled further suspicions of potential unidentified objects in Scotland’s skies. From 1940 onwards various eyewitness accounts have included everything from mysterious beams of light in Lennoxtown to an alleged abduction in Livingston.

Despite its reputation as a hotspot for alien activity, Ronald insists that it has never been more important to validate potential sightings and check for signs of false or natural explanations.

“I think we have got to be critical about the whole thing. You can’t accept every claim that someone has seen something strange unless there is real evidence; you have to evaluate it and take a look to see if we can explain it through science or natural phenomenon.

“People think they have seen something strange but when you take a look and investigate it you find out that really there is nothing behind it.”

However one would be advised to keep your eyes on the Scottish skies for now. As the use of camera-phones and handheld recording equipment grows, so too does the chance of spotting a UFO – just make sure to wear a warm jacket.

“I’d advise [UFO hunters] to take a very warm coat and be prepared to spend some time in an isolated spot. You don’t want to be near a city.”

‘Bright white missile’ reported low over Independence, Missouri

An Independence, MO, witness is looking for an explanation after watching “a bright, white object that looked like a fat missile” moving overhead under 1,000 feet, according to June 22, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness had just gotten into a car after getting off of work and compared the object to a missile “like from World War II aiming down at a 45 degree angle.”

The witness described the object.

“It had a skinny tail on top of it at a 120 degree angle,” the witness stated. “It moved across the sky kind of like a plane would, but it was moving in a very straight, smooth path and flying very low. I was surprised to see a plane that low in this area. I’d guess that it was at about 500 – 1,000 feet, but don’t know for sure.”

The object then moved behind trees and the witness was unable to see it again.

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 22, 2011. The event occurred on June 21, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Independence is the fourth largest city in Missouri, lying within Jackson and Clay counties, population 116,830.

MO, June 21, 2011 - Missle-shaped object over Independence. MUFON Case # 29679.

I was getting in my car after work and something caught my eye in the sky slightly to my East. I saw a bright white object that looked like a fat missle (like from WWII) aiming down at a 45 degree angle.

It had a skinny tail on top of it at a 120 degree angle. It moved across the sky kind of like a plane would, but it was moving in a very straigt, smooth path and flying very low. I was surprised to see a plane that low in this area. I’d guess that it was at about 500- 1,000 feet but don’t know for sure.

It was cloudy out with dark clouds in the Eastern sky where I was looking so the object really stood out. It moved behind trees and I couldn’t see it after that.

I’d like to know what it was. After that, I headed home (West) on 23rd Street. I was at 291 Highway and 23rd street and noticed a very strange cloud hanging low over an area around Noland Road. It was low and black with sharp edges and a few puffy black clouds around it that were all the same size. It looked very odd – I’ve never seen anything like it. It stayed there the entire time I was driving.
